One of the first business tools for the freelancer made in South Africa (or that I’m aware of). I am still to buy and download, but if you need something like it, it’s really a good way to get your admin ducks in a row. You can find it here.

Be a DJ, with free Software
Here is a neat DJ App that can be found in the Apple App store. Virtual DJ gives you all you need, syncs with your iTunes Library and has you rocking the dance floor. Find it here
Bjork’s App (launching of new album)
I haven’t quite had time to play with it, because I’m still waiting for it to download (quite large: 173mb). The page on iTunes does look interesting though, as to show a different side of Bjork. If the quality of graphics used for the preview is anything to go by with regards to the new album, I’ll most definitely get hold of a copy. It must be good. You can find it here on iTunes.
Are you in a band, or are you a fan?
Bandcamp is a way for music makers to distribute their music directly without having to go through distributor or ‘publisher’. You can do it yourself. It has interesting tools, like social marketing methods on Twitter, where you can download a free song if you tweet about it. I just downloaded the latest M83 tune, by just tweeting about it. You can do the same here. It is all done with Bandcamp, and its great to have the power in the creator.
Colour lover, pattern generator?
Here is an online app that provides a pattern generator. You can also buy the full desktop app which gives you more functionality, but playing around with the the free version is surely easier than making them in Photoshop or illustrator. Find it here.
Police can become social
It would be a great way to fight crime if cops can find your location by a tweet, or by a phone call holding more info that just who the person is. Imagine the police have a dedicated person to read tweets. People seeing crime taking place can tweet about it, and have location services active on their mobile devices.
Example:
@police_CT please help. Person breaking into car on Long.
That’s it! They can come back by saying @VVouter thanks man, we’ll be checking it immediately!

BSAVI to launch in SA soon
BSAVI is going to be the Mint of South Africa (just to give an idea of what it is, but it’ll be geared for SA), and a whole lot better than the other money management tools out there. Continue reading
